"We were looking for a film maker to shoot a
movie to support a patriotic anthem which we had produced.
We reached out to a young director who had shot a lot of
video for another project about a young man going off to
war. It was just visual, but when we viewed it, its potential
to marry up well with the song was apparent. We added some
dialog at the beginning and the end, and we added the flashback
element to the story to give it more complexity. The ending is
deliberately ambiguous (was he KIA?). It was re-edited, titled
and produced. Neither pro-war nor anti-war, the message is that
behind every warrior there is a family. "So Long For Now"
(which came from the dialog) won an award at the USA Film Festival
and did extremely well in the Academy Awards short film competition."
Filmed on location in North Carolina in regular definition and
edited on a Mac with Final Cut Pro.
