iAttachments Summary
An iAttachment is a new form of social greeting which uses a short film with an original
or under appreciated song to tell a story about the greeting occasion (from birthdays to
holidays and everything in-between). It takes the place of a paper greeting card (billions
sent annually). It is faster to choose and send. Itʼs less expensive to buy and send. It
has more emotional impact. Customers are global and English speaking. For the first
time, we present a revenue model for short film makers and songs that speak to
greeting occasions.
We are currently seeking to partner with creative artists: free- lance film makers,
record owners, song writers and music publishers.
Through an authoring system, these core greetings are customized by the sender on
the front end (a graphic “envelope”) and the back end (a special effects closing), where
the sender adds personalized text, audio, photos or video clips. The recipient can also
access the lyrics of the song and artistsʼ biographies. This is a subscription service.
For a $20 annual fee, the iAttachments.com subscriber has unlimited viewing/ listening
and sending privileges of the library. To view samples of some iAttachments, click on
“demo” in the navigation bar. iAttachments can be viewed on most recent work stations
and advanced mobile screens.
Artists are compensated on pro- rated share of the royalty pool (for details, click on
“royalties” in the navigation bar). Films and songs are streamed (not downloaded) in
order to simplify rights management and deliver a superior consumer experience.
Music sync rights and public performance rights for the songs are provided in advance
to the film maker. Non- exclusivity of both the song and the visual footage means that
iA is non- restrictive, incremental revenue opportunity for the artist and publisher
(although the marriage of the song and film is exclusive to the iA library).
Quality. iA intends to put the highest quality image on the screen and sound through
the speakers. Weʼre not about home movies set to music. The film maker is asked to
tell a story with a song. Live action short films, 3D animations and still image collages
are welcome. The songwriter/ publisher is asked to contribute a song with lyrics which
speak to a “greeting” occasion. All music genres are welcome except rap. Although
some iAttachments may be considered “edgy,” all will be considered in good taste (“G,”
“PG,” or “PG- 13”).
Songs will generally be considered on an “as is” and yes or no basis, from Garage Band
or studio demo to fully orchestrated. Once the brief proposal is accepted, a film maker
will work with one of our “content producers” (not a technical film editor, but more like a
writer works with a book editor) to ensure a successful outcome.
The staff at iA is composed of song writers, music publishers, performers, producers
and film makers, as well as webheads and business professionals, in order to maximize
our success. Please explore this website to see how iA can provide royalties and
creative fulfillment for your artistic endeavors.
Why an iAttachment? An iA is successful if it makes you laugh (Mark Twain: “If youʼre
going to tell people something important, make them laugh first.”) or cry. The viewer
should feel uplifted. It should be heart felt. iA helps people keep in touch, enriching
their lives through meaningful communication. The emotional value of communication
makes a difference in peopleʼs lives. Emotions rule the world.
An iA is a greeting innovation, more engaging and memorable than a paper card or an
“ecard.” Music creates the mood, intonation, stress, emotion, style, and tone of the film
(every full length feature film has a musical score and songs). Music is a paralanguage,
reinforcing seeing. The ballad tells a story and provides emotional focus. A song can
be heard by or played by one of the characters or the source of the song may or may
not be shown on the screen. A song can properly describe a scene, define a character,
or advance the plot of the film. Songs elevate the moving image art form.
Film engages the eyes and ears, keeps our attention longer, and has the power to
inform, persuade and educate. Film allows us to see others in a story or situation,
displays the human condition, create shared understanding, and evoke more emotional
energy. Film photographs thought. It is an illusion which has meaning in the
imagination of the viewer. It is a combination of art and entertainment, the perfect
medium of a shared greeting between two people.
