What Is An iAttachment?

An iAttachment is a new form of interpersonal greeting which has the core sentiment for the occasion expressed as a short film with a song. This core “greeting” is sandwiched between two graphics routines which the sender can customize. The opening graphics routine features an envelope on which the sender types the recipient’s address. The closing graphics routine allows the sender to include an artfully presented text message and, if the sender desires, a video clip, digital photo and/ or an audio clip. We send out a link via regular email to the recipient, and when they click on the link the iAttachment begins (via a streaming session).

An iAttachment is more engaging and memorable than paper cards or other “e-cards.” Music creates the mood, intonation, emotion, and style of every film. Music is a paralanguage which reinforces seeing. The lyrics tells a story and provides emotional focus for the listener. A song can be heard by or played by one of the characters in the film. The source of the song may or may not be shown on the screen. A song can properly describe a scene, define a character, or advance the plot of a film. Songs elevate the moving image art form.

Film engages the eyes and ears, keeps our attention longer, and it has the power to inform, persuade and educate. Film allows us to see others in a story or situation, displays the human condition, creates shared understanding, and evokes more emotional energy. Film photographs thought. It is an illusion which has meaning in the imagination of the viewer. It is a combination of art and entertainment, the perfect medium of a shared greeting between two people (witness the YouTube phenomenon).

An iAttachment is successful if it makes you laugh or cry. It is successful if it uplifts you or makes you appreciate heartfelt emotions. iAttachments help people keep in touch, enriching their lives through meaningful communication. The emotional value of communication makes a difference in people’s lives. Emotions rule the world.
